King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard have announced a 2026 Australian tour opening October 13 at Anita's Theatre in Thirroul, with the band's own curated two-day festival in Melbourne as its centrepiece (Billboard).

The Melbourne seven-piece, who formed in 2010 and have released 27 studio albums to date, will follow the Thirroul opener with a busy Sydney run on October 14. A headline show at the Hordern Pavilion comes first, with support from Xiao Xiao. That same night, a separate late show at Liberty Hall is billed as a "rave set."

The tour's anchor is the second edition of The Croxton Block Party, a two-day, band-curated event at the Croxton Hotel in Melbourne on October 17–18. King Gizzard will headline both nights, each with a three-hour set. The venue's carpark was converted into a festival site for the inaugural edition in 2025, continuing a relationship that stretches back to the band's first Croxton show in December 2015, a 2016 residency, and a 2020 bushfire benefit.

The October 17 Block Party lineup features Japanese punk veterans Shonen Knife, Babe Rainbow, Heavy Moss — the project of King Gizzard bassist Lucas Harwood — B3LLY, Moktar, Techno666, and a solo modular-synth set from frontman Stu Mackenzie. October 18 brings C.O.F.F.I.N, Glyconic, Gut Health, ORB, Public Figures, and a return of Moktar.

Through a partnership with climate agency FEAT, $1 from every Croxton Block Party ticket will support habitat restoration on Lungtalanana Island in Tasmania. The project, led by the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre, aims to reintroduce the Bass Strait wombat and the long-nosed potoroo to the island.

Alongside the tour announcement, the band confirmed their 28th studio album, Alien Metal, is due later this year on p(doom) Records, their own label, with lead single "Level 5" already out. The news follows the October 2025 release of Ravin' in Melbourne '25, a live album documenting the band's previous Australian run.

That run was the Phantom Island Australian Tour, which included shows at Sydney's Enmore Theatre on December 4 and 5, 2025 (The Note).

Before the Australian dates, the band has US shows on the books. According to the band's official website, they are scheduled to perform at Field of Vision II in Meadow Creek, Buena Vista, Colorado from August 14–16, 2026, followed by back-to-back nights at Forest Hills Stadium in New York on August 20 and 21, and a show at Under The K Bridge Park in Brooklyn.

For a band whose relationship with the Croxton Hotel spans a decade, turning its carpark into a two-day festival with Japanese punk royalty and a modular-synth solo set from their own frontman is a fitting homecoming. That every ticket sold also sends a dollar toward reintroducing wombats to a Tasmanian island is the kind of detail that makes the event feel less like a standard tour stop and more like something the band built from the ground up.
