Spider-Man: Brand New Day — Tom Holland's Fourth Solo Outing Arrives in Theatres This Friday

Tom Holland returns as Peter Parker for a fourth solo adventure in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, opening exclusively in theatres on Friday, 31 July 2026. The world premiere took place on 28 July 2026, with early reactions now surfacing online (The Hollywood Reporter) and the first full review published the same day (The Hollywood Reporter).
The film runs two hours and twenty-five minutes and carries a PG-13 rating. Sony Pictures is the studio behind it, with Destin Daniel Cretton in the director's chair. Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers wrote the screenplay, credited to the Marvel comic book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko (The Hollywood Reporter). It sits within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the interconnected franchise that has linked Marvel Studios' film and television output since 2008.
The cast is stacked with returning faces and notable new arrivals. Zendaya reprises her role as MJ, having been confirmed in the part as far back as Sony's CinemaCon presentation in April (AP News). Jacob Batalon returns as Ned Leeds. Marisa Tomei is back as Aunt May. Mark Ruffalo appears as Bruce Banner — the character last seen in human form, not as his green alter ego the Hulk.
Jon Bernthal joins the lineup as Frank Castle, better known as the Punisher. Sadie Sink, fresh off Stranger Things, is in the cast, as are Tramell Tillman, Liza Colón-Zayas, Michael Mando and Marvin Jones III. The film also features crossover appearances by characters from the Avengers and X-Men franchises, broadening the scope beyond Spider-Man's usual corner of New York (The Hollywood Reporter).
For audiences, that crossover element is the draw. The Marvel Cinematic Universe — a shared on-screen world where characters from different Marvel properties appear across one another's stories — has long used Spider-Man films as a meeting point, and Brand New Day looks to continue that pattern. Sony first unveiled new footage at CinemaCon, the annual Las Vegas convention where studios pitch exhibitors on their upcoming slates, back in April (AP News). Teaser posters followed, revealed in connection with the same event (Marvel.com).
Marketing has since escalated. Sony released a final trailer subtitled "Peter's Journey" (Sony Pictures), and tickets went on sale earlier in the summer, with Marvel confirming the exclusive theatrical release and ticket availability across two announcements in June and July (Marvel.com; Marvel.com). A theatrical-only release means no same-day streaming option — audiences will need to go to a cinema for this one.
The title Brand New Day borrows from a well-known 2008 Spider-Man comic-book storyline, though whether the film follows that plot or simply borrows its name remains for audiences to discover. With the review now live and first reactions circulating, the conversation around Holland's latest turn as the web-slinger is already underway — three days before a single paying audience walks in.
