Netflix has released the first-look images for Tyler Perry's Beauty in Black season three, and the new episodes land on 27 August — but the bigger headline is that the show is no longer ending.

When Netflix announced the season-three renewal in December 2025, it came with a clear label: the third run would be the series' final season, revealed ahead of the season-two part-two debut (The Futon Critic). Seven months on, that plan has changed. Netflix has renewed Beauty in Black for a fourth season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The first-look images, credited to Netflix, arrive alongside a season-three synopsis that the platform provided to The Hollywood Reporter. The new episodes pick up with Kimmie, played by Taylor Polidore Williams, taking a seat at the Bellaire family table — the dynasty behind the Beauty in Black hair school that Kimmie once applied to on a scholarship, according to Netflix's Tudum site (Tudum). Kimmie's past is tangled: she worked at a strip club and fought to escape the control of a character named Jules, per the same Tudum page.

Season three throws her into a deadly family feud. Kimmie partners with Mallory, played by Crystle Stewart, in what Netflix's synopsis calls an uneasy alliance — one held together by blackmail, revenge, and buried secrets rather than trust. Steven G. Norfleet returns as Charles, a figure inside the Bellaire orbit.

The cast is deep. Season three brings back Amber Reign Smith, Xavier Smalls, Ricco Ross, Julian Horton, Steven G. Norfleet, Richard Lawson, Terrell Carter, Bryan Tanaka, Charles Malik Whitfield, and Debbi Morgan. Additional cast members include Bailey Tippen, Rodrigo Aburto, Randall J. Bacon, George Middlebrook, Greg Clarkson, Jasmine Burke, Aria Celeste Castillo, Gianmarco Duin, Raven Chambers, Michael Butler, Jillmarie Lawrence, and Jim Braswell (The Hollywood Reporter).

For a show that was meant to wrap, the fourth-season renewal means the writers' room and a crew numbering in the hundreds have more story to tell — and viewers who tune in on 27 August will not be watching a farewell run.
