Production on Wednesday Season 3 has officially wrapped, and Netflix is holding the new season for 2027.

The streamer confirmed the finish on 30 September with a new photo of Jenna Ortega back as Wednesday Addams, seated at a desk with a typewriter. The announcement was reported by Deadline. Netflix gave its own wrap notice a gothic headline: “Filming for Wednesday Season 3 Is Wrapped and Buried.”

The photo credit goes to photographer James Pierce, according to Tudum. It shows Ortega in character, hair in her familiar plaits, hands poised over the keys. It is a quiet image. It says writer at work.

The series was created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar and directed by Tim Burton. It follows Wednesday Addams after her arrival at Nevermore Academy, the school for outcasts. Season 3 will continue that story.

New faces crowd the new season. Eva Green joins as Aunt Ophelia, a new branch of the Addams family tree. Winona Ryder joins as Tabitha, another fresh addition to the ensemble.

Joanna Lumley has been upped to series regular for Season 3, meaning a full-season commitment as a main cast member. Lumley plays Grandma Hester Frump. Her promotion locks in more of Wednesday’s extended family.

The wider intake of new cast includes Chris Sarandon, Noah Tayler, Oscar Morgan, Kennedy Moyer, Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy and James Lance. Tudum said its wrap package also includes previews from the creators on future episodes and the new arrivals.

Many established names are back. The returning cast includes Ortega alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, Emma Myers, Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday and Moosa Mostafa. It also includes Georgie Farmer, Billie Piper, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, Victor Dorobantu, Evie Templeton and Fred Armisen.

This is the second official look at the season. Netflix previously released a first-look photo in April showing Wednesday in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, as covered by The Hollywood Reporter.

For fans, this means the job now moves off set. A wrap ends principal photography, when the cast and shooting crew finish. Edit, sound, visual effects and music follow before Netflix can set a premiere date inside that 2027 window.
