Laura Marcus has created and stars in her first Channel 4 comedy project, a Blap titled F**k Ups, revealed in a Deadline exclusive on 29 July 2026.

A Blap is Channel 4's short-form comedy pilot strand — a testing ground where a one-off episode can, if it lands, graduate to a full series commission. Past Blaps have done exactly that: Stepping Up, starring Josh Pugh, was commissioned as a six-part sitcom after its Blap aired (Channel 4). Blaps run on Channel 4's streaming platform and on YouTube, and submitting one requires the backing of a PACT-registered production company (Channel 4).

F**k Ups centres on a teenager named Miracle June Jones, who has dedicated her existence to greatness — only to face the reality that even the most disciplined person can mess up. Marcus described the project as "an adrenaline fuelled love letter to being the lamest rats in town" (Deadline).

The pilot draws partly from a short film Marcus made during the pandemic with producer Daniel Sved. Sved, an RTS Award-winner, produces alongside Bafta-nominated Leah Draws. Bristol-based Calling the Shots Films is the production company, with Jeremy Routledge as executive producer and Andy Brereton as commissioning editor. Will Wightman directed; his recent work includes This Place is a Shthole*, starring Paddy Young and Jack Shep. Lynks, the electronic artist, composed the soundtrack.

The co-stars carry recognisable faces. Molly Hewitt-Richards (The Virgins), Alexander Arnold (Skins), Sophie Thompson (Detectorists) and Mark Benton (Smoggie Queens) all appear alongside Marcus.

Marcus's screen credits have been stacking up. She landed a series regular role in Netflix's live-action adaptation of Assassin's Creed (Deadline), appeared in Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, and featured in the Netflix mini-series Death by Lightning. Her earlier work includes Bad Education Series 4 (2022), The Serpent Queen on Starz, the BBC's The Jetty (2024), and Scarlet and the Duke. She was also awarded at the BFI Future Film Festival for her short film The Massive Fcking Bender*.

For Marcus, F**k Ups is a first step into creating for a UK broadcaster — and the Blap format means that step could go further. Channel 4's comedy Blaps have a track record of becoming full series, and every pilot in that pipeline represents a writers' room and a crew waiting to find out whether their show gets the next order.

No air date for F**k Ups has been announced. When it arrives, it will be available on Channel 4's streaming platform and on YouTube.
