Koei Tecmo Lays Out a 27-Game Slate: Six Major Titles, 19 Mid-Range Projects, and a Studio That Has Grown to Match

Koei Tecmo has told investors it plans to release six major console and PC titles, 19 mid-range games, and two already-announced online and mobile projects across the short to mid-term — a slate of 27 games in total, many of them still unannounced, running through the fiscal year ending March 2027. The details came out of the publisher's first-quarter earnings briefing for that fiscal year, reported on 29 July 2026. (Eurogamer)
The headline attractions are familiar names. Attack on Titan 3 and Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember are identified as the company's next two triple-A releases — the big-budget, high-profile tier of game development. Wo Long 2, a dark action role-playing game set in China's Three Kingdoms period and developed by Team Ninja, was announced in June 2026 for an early 2027 release on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. Attack on Titan 3's window was not specified in the briefing.
Beyond those two, Koei Tecmo has an all-new action game with what it described as oriental-style aesthetics in development — no title, no date, and no further detail offered.
The mid-range tier is where the volume sits. Nineteen smaller-scale projects are planned, and the company said it is prioritising portfolio balance through ports (existing games brought to new platforms), remasters, and projects aimed at loyal fan communities. One of those is already on the calendar: a Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered, launching in October 2026.
The publisher is also working with Game Freak and Nintendo on updates and paid downloadable content for Pokémon Pokopia, the Pokémon-themed battle game released earlier in 2026.
To support this output, Koei Tecmo has expanded its workforce from 2,500 to over 3,000 employees in two years — a 20 per cent increase in headcount. The company's broader strategy, first outlined in its 2024 financial report, calls for a focus on in-house development and self-publishing, with the goal of consistent yearly releases of major titles. That plan was formalised in the Fourth Medium-Term Management Plan, covering fiscal years 2025 through 2027, announced in February 2025.
For fans of Koei Tecmo's long-running franchises — Dynasty Warriors, Ninja Gaiden, Atelier, and the rest — the briefing signals something concrete: a publisher betting that a steady stream of smaller releases can keep communities fed between the triple-A launches, rather than leaving years-long gaps. Whether twenty-seven projects land on schedule is a production question the company will answer one release at a time.
