Hulu has set a September 3, 2026 premiere for the second season of Chad Powers and released the first-look images to go with it, according to Deadline. Glen Powell is back as Russ Holliday, the disgraced quarterback who reinvented himself as the mullet-topped walk-on Chad Powers — a character the series borrowed from an Eli's Places segment produced by ESPN and Omaha Productions.

Season 2 raises the stakes for the fictional South Georgia Catfish, the SEC (Southeastern Conference) team at the centre of the show. This time around, the Catfish are chasing a berth in the College Football Playoff, the four-team postseason tournament that crowns the national champion in real-life American university football. Powell co-created the series with Michael Waldron, who continues as showrunner under an overall deal with 20th Television, the studio producing the show. Eli and Peyton Manning serve as executive producers.

The first-look photos offer a glimpse of the new season's tone. One image shows Chad (Powell) and Ricky (Perry Mattfeld) standing at the entrance to the Catfish stadium, a tableau that places the characters squarely in the world of game-day spectacle. Steve Zahn returns as Coach Jake Hudson, with Quentin Plair as Coach Byrd, Wynn Everett as Tricia Yeager, and Frankie Rodriguez as Danny rounding out the returning cast.

Four new faces joined for Season 2: Colin Woodell, Gillian Jacobs, Carey O'Donnell, and Nate Varrone, as Deadline first reported in March 2026. Their roles have not been detailed in the materials released so far.

The renewal itself landed in December 2025, roughly two months after the first season wrapped its run. Season 1 launched on September 30, 2025 with two episodes, followed by weekly releases through the finale on October 28, Hulu's press site confirms. Waldron extended his overall deal with 20th Television in April 2026, as Deadline reported, keeping the co-creator tied to the studio behind the series. An overall deal, in industry terms, means a studio pays a writer-producer to develop projects exclusively for that studio's roster.
