Doug Cockle, the voice of Geralt of Rivia, posted a photo of himself in a recording booth on X — and the official Witcher account answered back.

Cockle's caption read: "Oh don't mind me… just visiting an old friend… and of course Roach." Roach is the name Geralt gives his horse across the Witcher series. The official Witcher account on X replied: "The Witcher and Roach back on the Path." (VGC)

Neither Cockle nor the official account explicitly said what project the recording session was for, according to VGC. But the timing has fans connecting the dots to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Songs of the Past, an expansion CD Projekt Red announced on 27 May 2026. The connection is not confirmed, and Cockle has been coy about it before. In an interview published by Polygon on 11 June 2026, he was asked whether he had recorded for the Songs of the Past DLC. His reply: "I haven't, but I wouldn't tell you if I had." (Polygon)

CD Projekt Red has also confirmed it will bring the expansion to gamescom 2026, with an appearance at Opening Night Live scheduled for 25 August. Voice recording for a major character typically happens well into a game's development, once scripts are locked and scenes are being animated around the performance. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt first released in 2015 and remains one of the most widely played role-playing games on the market, with ports across multiple console generations. Its previous expansions, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, were both critically acclaimed and released within a year of the base game.
