San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle — a seven-time Pro Bowler — is set to make his first on-screen acting appearance in Dinosaurs of the Wild West, an eight-part frontier series from Australian writer-director Luke Sparke (Deadline).

The series is pitched as "House of the Dragon meets Tombstone," set in an alternate 1879 where humans and dinosaurs built civilisation together. Sparke's production company, Sparke Films, describes it as a "cinematic series" (Yahoo Finance press release). The project is currently raising funds on Kickstarter, and three principal hero roles remain in active casting with auditions underway (Deadline).

Kittle will not be the only recognisable face. Martin Kove — best known as the Cobra Kai sensei John Kreese — is cast in the series, alongside his son Jesse Kove, who takes on a villainous role. Rachel Pizzolato is cast as a character called "The Heiress" (Deadline).

Sparke comes to the project with an established genre track record. His 2025 film Primitive War starred Ryan Kwanten, Tricia Helfer, Nick Wechsler, and Jeremy Piven, and a sequel is in development. His other directing credits include Occupation: Rainfall and Bring Him To Me (Deadline).

The series was first announced via a press release distributed through Yahoo Finance on 7 July 2026, and SYFY Wire published an exclusive interview with Sparke about the project on 22 July (SYFY Wire).

Sparke is also due in a Brisbane court later this year over alleged conduct connected to a historical bankruptcy, as reported by Deadline (Deadline).

For Kittle, the role marks a step into a different kind of spotlight. A Pro Bowler — meaning one of the players voted each season as the best at their position — he now joins the list of athletes who have crossed from the field to the screen. Whether Dinosaurs of the Wild West reaches audiences depends in part on its crowdfunding campaign, which is still open on Kickstarter.
