The title is a nod to the calendar. SOBxRBE were founded in 2016, making 2026 their tenth year — "Ten Summers" marks that anniversary. The group, whose name is pronounced "SOB by RBE," built a following with a rapid, hard-hitting style that put them at the centre of a late-2010s Bay Area rap wave. Their 2017 debut album Strictly Only Brothers and high-profile collaborations, including a feature on the Kendrick Lamar-curated Black Panther soundtrack album, pushed them onto national charts.

Then came a long silence on the recording front. Seven years passed without new music from the group as a unit, though members pursued solo work in the interim.
