Gary Oldman, Curry Barker and Robbie Brenner have been added to the keynote speaker lineup for TIFF: The Market, the Toronto International Film Festival's first official content forum, running 10 to 16 September 2026. TIFF: The Market is a seven-day event running alongside the Toronto Film Festival itself, which spans 10 to 20 September. The market is designed as a buying-and-selling forum not only for film and television but also for gaming and immersive formats — a broader commercial surface than the festival's traditional screenings and press circuit.

Oldman will appear in the Visionaries program, presented by The Hollywood Reporter, to discuss a career that includes his role as the rumpled intelligence officer Jackson Lamb in the Apple TV+ series Slow Horses. He will be joined in that section by South Korean director Lee Chang-dong, who will present his latest film, Possible Love. Lee was also named a honouree of the 2026 TIFF Tribute Awards, announced on 29 July.

Barker, who directed the Focus Features horror film Obsession, will speak in the Dialogues section alongside Inde Navarrette, discussing the film. Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler, the founders of Killer Films — the production company behind decades of independent American cinema — will also appear in Dialogues. More speakers for that series, and for the Speakers' Summit, will be announced in the coming weeks.

Brenner is credited as a producer of Barbie, the 2023 Warner Bros. release that grossed over US$1.4 billion worldwide. Her presence connects the new market forum to the studio blockbuster economy that Toronto has increasingly courted alongside its arthouse and international programming.

The 2026 festival is the 51st edition of TIFF. Siân Heder's Being Heumann was named the Opening Night Film on 7 July, with the festival confirming three world premieres in its lineup. TIFF has also expanded its Platform programme and jury, with the Platform Award winner now receiving a direct path to International Feature Film Oscar consideration — a structural incentive that could attract more awards-minded films to Toronto's selection.

On 29 July, TIFF announced its first 2026 Tribute Awards honourees: Penélope Cruz, Lee Chang-dong, Rosalind Eleazar and Siân Heder. The festival has been rolling out its 2026 programmes throughout July, including Gala and Special Presentations on 20 July, the Discovery programme of 24 debut and sophomore features on 22 July, the Primetime television lineup on 23 July, and an expanded Platform jury on 21 July. A summer marquee series, Christopher Nolan: Grand Designs, was announced on 26 May and includes a live taping of The Ringer's The Big Picture podcast at TIFF Lightbox.

For an industry audience, the addition of Oldman — a performer whose career arcs from indie dramas to blockbuster franchises — and Brenner, a producer of the highest-grossing film of 2023, signals that Toronto's new market forum wants to sit across the full commercial spectrum, from specialty horror to four-quadrant tentpoles. Whether that breadth pulls buyers and financiers away from established autumn markets like the American Film Market remains a question for September.
