Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway returned to the screen, and audiences followed. The Devil Wears Prada 2 drew 15.2 million views in its first five days of streaming on Disney+ and Hulu, according to Variety.

That figure makes the sequel the biggest live-action movie debut on Disney's streamers since Deadpool & Wolverine arrived in 2024. Streep and Hathaway lead the cast, reprising the roles they first played in the original The Devil Wears Prada, released in 2006 — nearly 20 years ago, ABC News Live noted ahead of the sequel's release.

Disney calculated the viewership total by dividing the total time the film was streamed by its 119-minute runtime, a standard method the industry uses to turn hours watched into a single, comparable "views" number. It is the same approach Netflix and other platforms apply when reporting their own titles, which makes cross-service comparisons at least roughly possible, even if each platform chooses its own measurement window.

For a sequel arriving two decades after the first film, the five-day result suggests the audience that loved the original was ready to come back — and that Disney's strategy of placing a marquee film across both its family-facing Disney+ service and the broader Hulu catalog gave it room to reach different audiences at once. The original 2006 film earned over $326 million at the worldwide box office and became a cultural touchstone; the sequel now carries that franchise into the streaming era, where success is measured in views rather than ticket sales.

No further viewership updates have been provided beyond the initial five-day window.
