The Devil Wears Prada 2 Draws 15.2 Million Views in Five Days, Beating Deadpool & Wolverine on Disney+ and Hulu

The Devil Wears Prada 2 pulled in 15.2 million global views across Disney+ and Hulu in its first five days of availability, surpassing Deadpool & Wolverine for the biggest live-action movie premiere on the two platforms, according to Deadline.
That number caps a theatrical run that grossed over $690 million worldwide for 20th Century Studios. The sequel arrived in cinemas earlier in 2026 before making its way to streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
The film reunites the original trio: Anne Hathaway returns as Andy Sachs, now an assistant-turned-reporter, opposite Meryl Streep's fashion mogul Miranda Priestly and Emily Blunt's Emily Charlton. The cast also includes Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu and Kenneth Branagh. David Frankel, who directed the 2006 original, returned to the chair; Aline Brosh McKenna wrote the screenplay. Wendy Finerman and Karen Rosenfelt produced.
The story catches up with Andy as she reunites with her former boss amid the decline of traditional magazine publishing. The franchise is rooted in Lauren Weisberger's 2003 novel, which itself drew on her time as an assistant at Vogue.
The rollout has been unusually layered for a studio film. The world premiere was livestreamed on Disney+ and Hulu on 20 April 2026, beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET — a red-carpet event turned into a streaming moment before the film had even reached cinemas. A Blu-ray, DVD and digital release followed.
What gives the streaming figure its weight is the company it displaces. Deadpool & Wolverine was Marvel's biggest theatrical hit of 2024 and a cornerstone title for Disney+; a fashion-world drama sequel outpacing a superhero blockbuster on the same platform is not the conventional expectation. Whether that says more about the enduring pull of the Prada brand or the post-theatrical appetite of its audience is a question the numbers raise but do not answer.
For 20th Century Studios, the result validates a strategy of building sequels from properties with deep audience affection — the original film opened in June 2006 and has lived in the cultural memory ever since. The sequel now has a streaming record to match its box-office total.
