Dick Clark Productions Launches DCP Studios, Bringing In Vox Media's Yosef Johnson to Lead It

Dick Clark Productions has launched DCP Studios, a new unit designed to expand the company's creative and production capabilities across its slate of awards shows and live entertainment programming. The move, reported on 3 August 2026, puts Yosef Johnson at the helm of the new studio. Johnson most recently served as senior VP and head of Vox Creative, the branded-content division within Vox Media. Variety
The company behind the Golden Globes, the American Music Awards, the Academy of Country Music Awards, and Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve — a portfolio it describes as the world's largest producer and proprietor of televised live entertainment programming — is betting that a dedicated studio structure will let it do more than put on a broadcast night. DCP Studios is tasked with building creative and production capacity across those marquee events and beyond them. Dick Clark Productions
Johnson brings more than 15 years of experience to the role. His career has spanned leadership positions at Group Nine Media, NowThis, and the advertising agency Wieden+Kennedy New York, where he worked on brands such as Nike and ESPN. That mix of digital media and brand storytelling is what DCP is drawing on: the new studio will also serve as the branded production arm for PMX brand partnerships, meaning companies that partner with DCP's parent can tap the studio to create content tied to its shows and events. Variety
Mike Chuthakieo, chief commercial officer for DCP, framed the launch as a shift toward what he called an "always-on studio model" — one that keeps creative and production teams working year-round rather than spinning up for each individual telecast. The goal, he said, is to expand DCP's ability to tell stories for partners and audiences across every platform. Variety
Dick Clark Productions has been busy on its core calendar through 2026. Winners for the 52nd American Music Awards were announced on 26 May 2026, following a viewer guide published five days earlier. The 62nd Academy of Country Music Awards is set to return to Las Vegas in 2027, as announced on 25 June 2026. The company also produces the Billboard Music Awards, the Billboard Latin Music Awards, the Latin American Music Awards, So You Think You Can Dance, and the legacy series American Bandstand. The company has been building out its executive ranks in recent years. In June 2023, DCP named Tamaya Petteway senior vice president of partnerships, a hire focused on deepening relationships with commercial partners. Variety
For viewers, the launch of DCP Studios is unlikely to change what they see on screen overnight. The Golden Globes will still be the Golden Globes. What changes is the machinery behind them: more year-round production capacity, a branded-content operation woven into the studio rather than bolted on, and a leader whose résumé bridges digital media and live television. Whether that translates into new formats, expanded digital coverage, or richer sponsor integrations around each telecast is the question the always-on model is built to answer.
