The Baywatch reboot has been licensed to Amazon Prime Video across thirteen international territories, with Sky taking the UK and Ireland — locking in a global rollout well ahead of the show's January 2027 premiere. The deal covers Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Benelux, Switzerland, Austria, Turkey, Canada, Latin America and India, according to Deadline.

Fremantle, which manages all international sales for the series, brokered the Prime Video agreements. FOX Entertainment Global holds the domestic US distribution rights. The international sales effort was led by Michela Di Mondo, executive vice president of distribution for Canada and International at Fremantle.

For subscribers in those territories, Prime Video will not only carry the 12-episode reboot but also stream the complete original Baywatch back catalogue. The original series ran from 1989 to 2001, starting on NBC and then moving into worldwide syndication — the distribution model that once made it one of the most-watched television shows on the planet.

The reboot's path to screen has moved through several stages. Fox closed a script-plus-penalty deal with Fremantle for the new version in March 2024, Variety reported — meaning the network committed to paying a fee if the project did not move forward. By June 2025, Fremantle's Bob McCourt confirmed the company was in advanced talks with Fox in the US. The series ultimately received a straight-to-series order, meaning no pilot was shot first, for the 2026–2027 broadcast season.

Matt Nix serves as showrunner and executive producer. McG, whose credits include the Charlie's Angels films, directs the premiere episode. The executive producer roster also includes original Baywatch creators Michael Berk, Greg Bonann and Doug Schwartz, alongside Dante Di Loreto and Mike Horowitz.

The cast blends new faces with returning originals. Stephen Amell, known for Arrow, leads as Hobie Buchannon. Jessica Belkin plays Charlie Vale, Shay Mitchell plays Trina, Hassie Harrison plays Nat, Thaddeus LaGrone plays Brad, Noah Beck plays Luke and Brooks Nader plays Selene.

Two original cast members reprise their roles. David Chokachi returns as Cody Madison, and Erika Eleniak guest-stars as Shauni McClain, the character she originated in the early seasons of the original run. Livvy Dunne rounds out the announced cast as Grace.

The reboot arrives at a moment when familiar IP — intellectual property a studio already owns — continues to drive commissioning decisions across streaming and broadcast alike. The Baywatch brand carries built-in recognition across multiple generations and regions, which is exactly what international buyers are paying for.
