Ted Lasso returns to Apple TV on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, with the first of ten new episodes — three years after Season 3 closed out, and with a new team for Ted to lead.

Jason Sudeikis reprises his role as the American-football-coach-turned-British-football-coach, but the job is different this time. Season 4 picks up two years after Ted left AFC Richmond and moved back to Kansas City to be near his son Henry, played by Grant Feely. In the premiere, Ted is stocking shelves at a local grocery store called Fowch's Fine Foods when club owner Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham), marketing chief Keeley (Juno Temple) and operations head Leslie Higgins (Jeremy Swift) show up at his door to offer him a new post: coaching Richmond's newly formed women's team, the Greyhounds (Deadline).

Ted initially says no. He changes his mind after looking over his old Richmond mementos and texting his ex-wife Michelle (Andrea Anders), agreeing to join her and Henry for a fresh start in England (Deadline). It is the first time the character coaches women.

The women's squad is officially introduced in Episode 2, with more new faces arriving in Episode 3. The roster includes Boots (Jude Mack), twin sisters Niamh (Aisling Sharkey) and Siobhan (Rex Hayes), and Margy (Mercedes Assad) with her girlfriend Mady (Annelise Heywood). Waiting for Ted is assistant coach Alice Chilton, played by Tanya Reynolds of Sex Education, who trained the team before his arrival and is described as a devoted leader who lacks self-confidence (Deadline).

Several familiar faces remain. Brett Goldstein stays behind the camera as a creative force and his character Roy Kent, the former player turned coach, is still a presence. Brendan Hunt, co-creator of the series, returns as Ted's deputy Coach Beard. Comedian Tracey Ullmann joins the cast as a new mentor for Rebecca (Variety).
