Spider-Man: Brand New Day Shatters Opening Record and Sends Its Soundtrack Songs Soaring

Spider-Man: Brand New Day opened to over $360 million at the domestic box office in its first weekend, surpassing the $357.1 million record set by Avengers: Endgame in 2019 to become the biggest opening weekend in U.S. history, Variety reported. The film — the fourth Spider-Man instalment in the extended Marvel Cinematic Universe, led by Tom Holland and Zendaya — is now playing exclusively in theatres, according to Sony Pictures.
The film's reach extends well beyond ticket sales. Several songs featured in Brand New Day saw enormous streaming surges during its first four days of release, from July 31 to August 3, according to data from Luminate, the tracking firm that measures on-demand U.S. streams.
Tame Impala's "Loser," from Kevin Parker's 2025 album Deadbeat, led the pack with an 838% gain to over 2.6 million official on-demand U.S. streams. The song had previously debuted at No. 91 on the Billboard Hot 100 — the weekly U.S. singles chart — in November, Billboard reported.
Steve Lacy's "Oh Yeah?" plays over the film's end credits and rose 181% to nearly 2.5 million streams across the same four-day window. TV on the Radio's "Wolf Like Me," featured in the opening montage, racked up over 550,000 streams — a 353% jump over the prior Friday-to-Monday period.
For ADÉLA, a graduate of the pop competition programme Dream Academy, the film's opening weekend coincided with a breakout of her own. Her single "Ain't in L.A.," released July 23, earned over 1.74 million on-demand U.S. streams during July 24–27 and then leapt 34.7% to over 2.35 million during the film's opening four days. The song's official TikTok sound appears in over 280,000 posts, its music video has collected over three million views in under two weeks, and it features in over 12,000 Instagram Reels.
What makes the streaming figures striking is their scale and speed. A single film placement can move millions of plays in a matter of days, turning catalogue tracks and new releases alike into chart contenders almost overnight. For context, the previous domestic opening record — Avengers: Endgame's $357.1 million in April 2019 — stood for over seven years, according to Rotten Tomatoes.
Sony's Spider-Man franchise has a long history of commercial dominance. In 2019, the studio announced that Spider-Man: Far From Home had set an all-time six-day opening record for Sony Pictures with a $185.06 million North American haul over the July Fourth holiday weekend, per a Sony press release. Looking ahead, Sony Pictures Animation lists Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse as scheduled to arrive in theatres on June 18, 2027.
