HBO and Sky have released the first trailer and photos for War, an eight-part divorce drama starring Dominic West and Sienna Miller, premiering 1 October on HBO and 2 October on Sky Deadline.

West plays Morgan Henderson, a tech entrepreneur, and Miller plays Carla Duval, a film star. Their marriage is over, and the split is anything but amicable. The series follows the financial, legal, and personal fallout of a high-profile divorce fought through two of London's most powerful fictional law firms, Cathcarts & Sons and Taylor & Byrne.

Drawn into the fray is Jonathan "Johnny" Warren, a young lawyer played by Archie Renaux, who finds himself navigating a ruthless legal world. The cast is deep: Phoebe Fox as Serena Byrne, James McArdle as Nicholas Taylor, Nina Sosanya as Beatrice "Queen Bea" Ubosi, and Pip Torrens as St John Smallwood. Celia Imrie, Nick Mohammed, Archie Panjabi, Adrian Scarborough, Emma Laird, Honor Swinton Byrne, and Miles Jupp are among the extended ensemble.

The series was created, written, and executive-produced by George Kay. Willow Grylls and Matt Sandford executive-produce for New Pictures, with Susan Breen, Ben Taylor, Andrea Dewsbury, and Megan Spanjian executive-producing for Sky. Taylor also serves as lead director, and Laurie Borg is the series producer. The production comes from Banijay-owned New Pictures and Observatory Pictures.

For viewers in the US, Australia, Southeast Asia, Latin America, France, and Belgium, War will stream on HBO Max. Sky carries the series in its territories.

What makes the rollout unusual is the pace. Season 2 has already been greenlit and is in production, ahead of the first season's October premiere. That kind of early commitment — a straight-to-series order with a second batch already shooting — means the writers' room and crew have continuity rather than a anxious wait for overnight numbers.

Season 2 shifts to a new case: an explosive defamation trial, with Marisa Tomei, Kelly Macdonald, and David Harewood joining the cast. The anthology-style structure, if it holds, would let War swap in new legal battles and new stars with each run, while keeping the central premise — the machinery of London's elite law firms — as its backbone.

West is widely known for The Wire and The Crown Sky. Miller's screen credits include Anatomy of a Scandal and American Sniper Sky.
