Hulu has handed The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives a 20-episode renewal, splitting the order across Season 6 and Season 7, with cameras already rolling on the new episodes at the time of the announcement on 6 August 2026 Deadline.

The renewal arrives against a turbulent production backdrop. Season 5 was interrupted by investigations into cast member Taylor Frankie Paul after footage emerged of her throwing a metal stool at her ex-boyfriend. Production halted earlier in the year while the allegations were examined. The incidents surfaced just days after Season 4 launched on Hulu. Paul has since had the domestic charges against her dropped Deadline.

That disruption left Season 5 truncated to five episodes rather than the traditional ten. Cast member Layla Taylor told Disney's Get Real podcast that the season would be a "dark" one Deadline.

The Paul incident also rippled beyond the show itself. Paul had been set to star in The Bachelorette, but the dating show was pulled as a result of the events surrounding her Deadline.

For fans, the big question is who returns. Hulu has not confirmed the cast for the renewed seasons. Taylor Frankie Paul said on social media that she would be appearing in Season 6. Whitney Leavitt, however, previously revealed that Season 5 would be her last. Other cast members include Jessi Draper, Jen Affleck, Miranda Hope, Mikayla Matthews, and Mayci Neeley Deadline.

The exact episode configuration for Seasons 6 and 7 is not yet settled. The 20 episodes will likely split into ten each, but Hulu has not confirmed whether that holds or whether the seasons will run a different length Deadline.

The series, produced by Jeff Jenkins Productions, has been a steady performer for Hulu. Variety reported in October 2024 that the streamer renewed the show for 20 new episodes covering Season 2 Variety. A further 20-episode renewal was reported by Deadline in November 2025, with plans to premiere Season 4 in early 2026 Deadline.

Hulu's press page currently lists the series as "now streaming" Hulu Press.

What makes this renewal stand out is the pace of it. The show has now received three multi-season orders in under two years, even as real-life controversy forced a shortened season and a production shutdown. The cameras are already turning on the next batch, and the cast list is still being worked out. For a series built on the lives of its participants, life keeps getting in the way of the schedule.
