Harlem rapper Liim has announced a new album, A Sunflower Garden in Harlem Is Hard to Find, due for release on August 28 via the Three Times Louder label. The record is his second full-length project within roughly a year, following Liim Lasalle Loves You. Pitchfork reported the announcement on August 7.

The album includes the track '1980', which features AJRadico and arrives with an accompanying music video. According to Liim's press materials, the video was inspired by Eric B. & Rakim — the Queens-and-Long-Island duo whose 1980s albums are widely regarded as foundational to hip-hop's golden age. The video credits NSSHO, with VFX by 900DKID, per Liim's official Instagram account.

Liim has said the films Paid in Full (2002) and Juice (1992) "spike memories" for him, describing a childhood spent across nearly every corner of his neighbourhood. Paid in Full, a Harlem street drama, and Juice, a coming-of-age thriller set in Harlem, both loom large in the imagery surrounding the project.

Beyond '1980', the album features the singles 'R.I.P Peace' and 'Is Loving Really Bad?' Complex included '1980 (ft. AJRadico)' in its New Music Friday roundup of new releases, though the outlet did not date its post.

The album's title has been circulating since at least January 16, 2026, when Liim posted the caption "A sunflower garden in Harlem is hard to find." on his Instagram account, a post that received 280 likes. By May, a separate post on the project's Instagram account promoted it as a mixtape that was "still on the way," captioned "Showtime officially official."

The single and video for '1980' were announced on Liim's Instagram on July 31 and again on August 7.

For fans, the pace is notable: two albums in under a year is an aggressive output cadence by any measure, and the early rollout — a January teaser, a May status update, and an August announcement — suggests the project has been taking shape for months rather than arriving as a surprise drop.
