Damon Wayans Joins St. Denis Medical Season 3, Reuniting with In Living Color Co-Star David Alan Grier

Damon Wayans will guest star in the Season 3 premiere of NBC's St. Denis Medical, playing a character who steps in while David Alan Grier's Ron recovers from surgery — bringing two In Living Color veterans back onto the same screen (Deadline).

Wayans plays Dr. Highland, described as a charming but pompous new doctor filling in at St. Denis while Ron is off the floor. The role reunites him with Grier, who plays Ron on the show and co-starred with Wayans on the landmark sketch series In Living Color, which ran from 1990 to 1994 on Fox.

Season 3 of St. Denis Medical premieres on Monday, November 2 at 8 p.m. on NBC. The network renewed the show for a third season as part of its 2026–27 television season. For viewers wanting to catch up, the first two seasons are available to stream on Peacock, NBC's streaming service.

Created by Justin Spitzer and Eric Ledgin, St. Denis Medical is a mockumentary-style workplace comedy set in an underfunded hospital. The ensemble cast includes Allison Tolman, Josh Lawson, Kahyun Kim, Mekki Leeper, Kaliko Kauahi, and Wendi McLendon-Covey as hospital administrator Joyce. Ledgin serves as showrunner and executive producer, with Spitzer, Simon Heuer, Bridget Kyle, and Vicky Luu also credited as executive producers. Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, is the studio behind the series.

For fans of In Living Color, the premiere offers a rare treat: two performers who helped define sketch comedy in the early 1990s sharing the frame again, this time inside a hospital comedy rather than a sketch stage. No word yet on whether Wayans' Dr. Highland extends beyond the premiere episode.
