Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato Return for Camp Rock 3 with a New Generation of Disney Stars

The Jonas Brothers are heading back to camp. Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas are executive producing and reprising their roles in Camp Rock 3, the third film in the Disney Channel franchise that launched in 2008, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The brothers' band, Connect 3, returns to the titular camp to find a new opening act for their tour. This time, the campers are played by a fresh cast led by Malachi Barton and Liamani Segura. Demi Lovato, who starred opposite the Jonas Brothers in the original films, also appears in a cameo and serves as an executive producer alongside the brothers.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the film's Los Angeles premiere, Joe Jonas described shooting scenes with Lovato while watching the new campers as a "wild full circle moment." The original Camp Rock arrived nearly two decades ago; the sequel followed in 2010.

Lovato told the publication that returning to the franchise was "really healing" for her. She also offered guidance to the incoming cast, advising them to take breaks when needed, protect their mental health, and enjoy the experience, which she said would be a whirlwind.

Joe Jonas acknowledged that the landscape has shifted for young performers since his own early years on Disney Channel. "I don't envy anybody that's doing this now, there's probably a lot more scrutiny," he said. He noted, however, that there are now more resources for emerging stars to speak with professionals and receive support from the studio. Creating a safe space on set was a priority for the brothers, he added.

Camp Rock 3 follows a dual-release pattern now common for Disney's television films: it premieres on Disney Channel on a Thursday, then arrives on the Disney+ streaming platform the following day.

For fans who grew up with the original films, the return of Connect 3 and Lovato carries a clear emotional pull. The franchise helped define a late-2000s era of Disney Channel music originals; bringing it back with both the original stars and a new cohort positions it as both a nostalgia play and a launchpad for the next set of young performers.
