Xbox Game Pass has revealed its second wave of August 2026 additions, and three brand-new games are arriving on day one — meaning subscribers can play them the moment they launch, no separate purchase required.

The headliners span very different genres. Vapor World: Over the Mind, a narrative-driven souls-like platformer built around deflection-based combat, enters the Game Preview program (Microsoft's label for early-access titles still in active development) on August 19, 2026. Blood Dungeon, a new 2D platformer from the team behind the cult fencing hit Nidhogg, follows on August 25. And Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy arrives August 27 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and cloud — a departure from the stealth-and-puzzle roots of the earlier Plague Tale games (GameSpot, August 18, 2026; Xbox Wire, June 8, 2026).

Beyond the day-one launches, the wave fills out with a steady drip of additions across the back half of the month. Egging On landed on Xbox Game Pass Premium on August 18, also joining Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. BlazBlue Entropy Effect X and Relooted both arrive August 19 across the same tiers. Starsand Island follows on August 20, and Aerial Knight's DropShot on August 25. Rounding out the month, a game listed as Young Suns (also written as "Young Guns" in the announcement text) joins the service on August 31. All of these titles are available on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, with early access through the premium tier (GameSpot, August 18, 2026).

The full list was announced on Xbox Wire on August 18, 2026, with GameSpot publishing its breakdown the same day.

For subscribers, the draw is straightforward: Game Pass works on a monthly subscription model, and day-one launches are the clearest value proposition — games that would otherwise cost full retail price are included from the first minute. A souls-like platformer, a Nidhogg successor, and a Plague Tale spin-off landing within the same eight-day window gives the back half of August a particularly packed feel, even by Game Pass standards.

What gives the lineup its range is the spread of studios and styles. Vapor World comes from developers leaning into the punishing, precise-combat formula popularised by the Dark Souls series, translated into a 2D platforming frame. Blood Dungeon carries the minimalist pedigree of Nidhogg creator Mark Essen's distinctive design language. And Resonance takes a franchise known for medieval rat swarms and emotional storytelling into territory its publisher describes as a genuine departure — details on exactly how remain limited, though Xbox showcased story and combat elements in June.

Altogether, nine titles join the service between August 18 and August 31. Three are brand-new. The rest round out a library that keeps growing, one wave at a time.
