Xbox Game Pass second September wave adds Gears of War: E-Day and Dune: Awakening
Xbox has confirmed the second set of Game Pass additions for September, led by Gears of War: E-Day, Dune: Awakening and Minecraft Dungeons II. The line-up rolls out from 16 September to 6 October 2026 across cloud, console, handheld and PC, according to the official announcement Xbox Wire.
Game Pass is Microsoft's games subscription service, with separate Ultimate, Premium and PC tiers that control where and how members can play. The September second wave was detailed on 15 September, with coverage following on 16 September Eurogamer.
The closing act is Gears of War: E-Day. It is a prologue to the original Gears of War story, set around Emergence Day, or E-Day, the Locust invasion, and follows a younger Marcus Fenix as he responds to the attack.
E-Day will be available from 6 October 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and cloud, and day one for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members Xbox. It also supports Xbox Play Anywhere, which means a single purchase covers Xbox and PC with shared saves and achievements.
Before that comes Dune: Awakening. It joins Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass on 22 September for cloud, Xbox Series X/S, handheld and PC.
The game launched on PC last summer as a multiplayer-first survival MMO, an online survival game where large numbers of players share the same harsh desert world. The console release adds a single-player mode for those who prefer to play alone. It is also coming to PS5.
Minecraft Dungeons II completes the headline trio. The sequel to the blocky dungeon crawler Minecraft Dungeons was announced earlier this year, and now has a Game Pass date in this wave.
There is plenty around those three. RuneScape: Dragonwilds arrived on 15 September for cloud, Xbox Series X/S and PC through Ultimate, Premium and PC Game Pass. Ninja Gaiden 4 follows on 17 September for cloud, Xbox Series X/S, handheld and PC, newly added to Premium while already available on Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
The wider Premium list also includes Marvel Cosmic Invasion, Planet of Lana 2 and Keeper. That matters for members on the lower-priced Premium tier, which does not always get day-one releases.
Three games leave the service on 30 September: Sifu, Atomfall and Little Nightmares 2. Members who want to keep them can usually buy at a discount before they are delisted from the catalogue.
What makes this stand out is the mix. A story-led shooter prologue, a desert survival world built for groups, and a family-friendly dungeon crawler land in the same fortnight. For subscribers, this means checking dates and tiers before downloading.
