Apple TV+'s 'Lucky' Ends Its First Season With Betrayals, a Killing, and a Farewell Hidden in a Stuffed Bear
The first season of Apple TV+'s Lucky wrapped on 12 August 2026 with a finale called "All Good Things," and the episode left no loose thread untied. The show, adapted from Marissa Stapley's novel of the same name, stars Anya Taylor-Joy as a young con artist forced on the run after a multi-million dollar heist goes wrong. Its final episode runs 44 minutes and carries an 18+ rating on the platform (Apple TV+ episode listing). Apple TV+ described it plainly: "Everything is on the line as Lucky navigates an explosive confrontation."
The finale reveals that FBI agent Kershaw, played by Eric Lange, had been secretly working with gangster Wayne Whittaker to track Lucky's late husband Cary. That betrayal caused the car crash that killed Cary in Episode 4. Cary, played by Drew Starkey, is also revealed to be Whittaker's biological son. Timothy Olyphant co-stars in the finale alongside Taylor-Joy (Rotten Tomatoes, 18 August 2026).
Priscilla Masterson, played by Annette Bening, shoots and kills Whittaker with three shots in retaliation for Cary's death. She then allows Lucky and her father John to go free. Lucky hands the $10 million from the heist and a crypto seed phrase — the string of words that controls access to a cryptocurrency wallet — to FBI agent Billie Rand, played by Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, rather than keeping either.
The goodbye between Lucky and her father lands last. Lucky tells John the seed phrase is stored on a voice recorder inside Cary's childhood stuffed bear. John leaves with the bear and finds a recorded message from Lucky saying he will never see her again. The showrunners, Jonathan Tropper and Cassie Pappas, told Variety they wrapped production on Lucky roughly a year before the interview. Both have since moved on to other Apple TV projects. Tropper is midway through filming the third season of Your Friends & Neighbors. Pappas is reteaming with Silo creator Graham Yost: in 2027, Yost will direct a feature film written by Pappas, and the pair are developing a new series titled Lexicon.
For fans of the show, the finale closes the book on Cary's death, the heist money, and Lucky's flight — but whether a second season follows has not been announced by Apple TV+.
