Netflix Sets 'The Hunting Wives' Season 2 for Thanksgiving Day Premiere, Releases First-Look Photos
Netflix has pinned the second season of The Hunting Wives to Thanksgiving Day, November 26, and dropped a batch of first-look photos to go with the date. The announcement was first reported by Variety on August 20, 2026.
The season will run eight episodes. It brings back a sprawling ensemble led by Brittany Snow as Sophie and Malin Åkerman as Margo, two characters who, per the official Season 2 logline, start the new chapter on the outs — only for old secrets and new foes to force them back together. The premise, as Netflix frames it: are they the hunters, or the hunted?
The returning cast also includes Dermot Mulroney, Jaime Ray Newman, Evan Jonigkeit, George Ferrier, Karen Rodriguez, and Hunter Emery. New additions for Season 2 span Branton Box, Dale Dickey, Kim Matula, Cam Gigandet, Alex FitzAlan, John Stamos, and Angel Reese — the LSU and WNBA star whose involvement was first detailed in Netflix Tudum's September 2025 announcement.
Rebecca Cutter developed the series for television and serves as executive producer and showrunner. Erwin Stoff of 3 Arts Entertainment executive-produces alongside May Cobb, the author of the 2021 novel on which the show is based. Lionsgate Television is the studio.
The renewal was never in much doubt. Season 1 drew 31 million views in the second half of 2025, according to Netflix's "What We Watched" report, published January 20, 2026. The streaming giant confirmed new seasons on the strength of that performance. Cobb's novel, originally published in 2021, surged back into the spotlight after the series premiered, as Netflix noted in a December 2025 book-to-screen recap.
The show has been on Netflix's promotional runway for a while. Season 2 was featured at the platform's Upfront 2026 event in May, where advertisers got an early look at what was coming. It is also listed among Netflix's new shows arriving in 2026.
For viewers, a Thanksgiving premiere is a deliberate play. The holiday draws some of the highest television-viewing traffic of the year in the United States, and Netflix is slotting a sophomore season — one with fresh cast members and a plot that resets the central dynamic — into that window.
