Netflix renews The Hunting Wives for Season 3 before Season 2 airs

Netflix has renewed The Hunting Wives for Season 3. The order came on 7 October, about six weeks before Season 2 is due to arrive.
The new season will run for eight episodes, and casting is already underway, according to Deadline. That is an early vote of confidence. Season 2 does not premiere until 26 November, as reported by People.
Season 2 lands on Thanksgiving Day in the United States. Netflix has already released first-look photos from the new run, which was teased in August.
The numbers help explain the decision. Season 1 has drawn more than 35 million views since its July 2025 release. It spent five weeks on Netflix's Global Top 10 for English-language television, peaking at No. 2 in its second week.
The series also reached the Top 10 for television in 40 countries and hit No. 1 in 10 countries, including the US. All viewing figures come from Netflix data cited in the renewal report.
The show stars Brittany Snow and Malin Åkerman, with Dermot Mulroney also in the cast. It was created by Rebecca Cutter and is based on the novel by May Cobb. Lionsgate Television is the studio.
Cutter serves as creator, showrunner, writer and executive producer. Erwin Stoff for 3 Arts Entertainment is also an executive producer, according to Netflix's programme site.
The Hunting Wives has had an unusual path to the screen. Season 1 was developed and produced for Starz before reverting to Lionsgate. Netflix then picked it up as a US-only title, initially under a one-year licensing deal.
That status has now changed. Season 1 remains an acquisition, meaning Netflix licensed finished episodes rather than commissioning them. From Season 2 onwards, the show is a Netflix original, meaning Netflix commissions and brands the series.
Season 2 picks up with Sophie and Margo on the outs. Old secrets and new foes force them back together, according to Netflix.
What makes this stand out is the timing. A renewal before the next season has even launched gives the writers' room and a large production crew a clear run. For viewers, it means the story realised in Season 2 already has somewhere to go next.
