Moulin Rouge! The Musical Announces New West End Cast for Fifth Year at Piccadilly Theatre
Moulin Rouge! The Musical has announced its new West End cast for a fifth year at the Piccadilly Theatre, with two principal roles changing hands from Monday 12 October 2026.
James Doherty steps in as Harold Zidler, the boisterous impresario at the heart of the story, and Daniel Fraser takes over as The Duke of Monroth, the possessive aristocrat who bankrolls the Moulin Rouge. Both join the London production on 12 October 2026, according to WhatsOnStage WhatsOnStage.
Karis Anderson and Alistair Brammer will continue as Satine and Christian, the lovers at the centre of the show. Anderson, known for performing in TINA – The Tina Turner Musical, and Brammer, known for Miss Saigon, joined the West End production in those roles in October 2025 Playbill.
Richard Lloyd King continues as the artist Toulouse-Lautrec. Ivan De Freitas plays Santiago and Lindsey Tierney plays Nini, the club's resident dance duo. Nick Len takes the role of Baby Doll, Billie-Kay joins as Arabia, and Athena Collins plays La Chocolat. Angela Marie Hurst serves as Alternate Satine, the performer who covers the demanding lead role for selected performances.
The show, based on Baz Luhrmann's 2001 film, features a book by John Logan and is directed by Alex Timbers. Music supervision, orchestrations and arrangements are by Justin Levine, with choreography by Sonya Tayeh. It has been running at the Piccadilly Theatre since its West End opening.
The fifth-year milestone falls in autumn 2026, and the production continues to book ahead. Meanwhile, a separate world tour of Moulin Rouge! On Broadway, the New York production currently features Solea Pfeiffer and John Cardoza in the lead roles. The show has also been running in Australia, where Alinta Chidzey and Des Flanagan lead the cast as Satine and Christian. The musical has become one of the more visible stage adaptations of a film in recent years, with three concurrent productions across London, New York and Australia, plus the touring company now reaching regional UK venues.
For West End audiences, the appeal is straightforward: a production that has held the Piccadilly Theatre for five years is refreshing its cast rather than winding down. New faces in the roles of Zidler and The Duke give regular theatregoers a reason to return, while the continuity of Anderson and Brammer in the central pairing keeps the show's through-line intact.
The production releases one additional week of performances every Monday, and prospective ticket buyers are directed to the show's mailing list for dates more than five months ahead.
