Ruby Karp's 'I Don't Trust Adults' Comedy Special Set for Veeps Streaming Premiere
Ruby Karp's comedy special I Don't Trust Adults will begin streaming on Veeps at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, September 10, according to Deadline.
The special takes its title literally. Karp, who describes herself as a "failed child star," built the show around six different adults who made her suspicious of grown-ups in general. The hour-long piece had a six-week Off-Broadway run at SoHo Playhouse before making the jump to streaming. Veeps, for readers unfamiliar with it, is a ticketed streaming platform that hosts live and on-demand performances — comedy, music and theatre — largely outside the Netflix-and-Amazon ecosystem. The New York City comedian has been working the stage since she was unusually young. She has hosted monthly shows at UCB — the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, a New York comedy institution — since she was twelve. She starred opposite singer-songwriter Charlie Puth in The Charlie Puth Show, an improvised comedy on Roku. She was a cast member in Season 3 of Smartypants on Dropout, the streaming network run by CollegeHumour. On the live circuit, she has performed at Just for Laughs and made appearances on MTV and Comedy Central. In 2023, the New York Comedy Festival named her one of its Creators to Watch.

The September 10 premiere puts the special on a streaming platform that reaches audiences directly, bypassing the traditional comedy-special path of a late-night cable slot or a major-subscription service deal.
