Dlala Studios Unveils Murals, a Fairy-Tale Action-Adventure, at Gamescom Opening Night Live

Dlala Studios has announced Murals, an isometric action-adventure game set inside twisted versions of famous fairy tales, at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026 on August 25. The game is scheduled to launch on PC in 2027. (GameSpot)
An isometric game presents its world from a raised, angled perspective — think looking down at a diorama rather than through a character's eyes. In Murals, players control a nameless hero who fights through corrupted versions of stories like Hansel and Gretel, The Little Mermaid, and Rapunzel. The fairy tales have gone sideways: Rapunzel's hair is actively trying to kill her, and Sleeping Beauty cannot sleep at all. (GameSpot)
Combat and abilities are shaped by collectible items called Eeries, described as mystical, haunted objects that enhance the hero's powers. Some Eeries boost the hero's weapon — one called "Strength In Misery" deals extra damage to enemies already suffering from status effects. Others affect the hero directly, such as "Thorny," which harms any enemy that attacks. (GameSpot)
Murals is both developed and published by Dlala Studios, making it the studio's first original intellectual property in over a decade. The UK-based studio's recent work includes the 2020 reboot of Battletoads and 2023's Disney Illusion Island. Before those licensed projects, Dlala had spent years in work-for-hire and contract development. (GameSpot)
Gamescom Opening Night Live, the annual showcase that opens the world's largest gaming convention in Cologne, Germany, is hosted by Geoff Keighley. All tickets for the 2026 edition were sold out. (Red Bull; Gamescom)
For a studio that has spent years handling other companies' characters, Murals is Dlala's chance to build something entirely its own — and to put its name on a world no one has seen before.
