Olivia Rodrigo Is Listening to Ariana Grande's 'petal' and Thinking About Covering a Song From It

Olivia Rodrigo told Wonderland magazine she has been listening to Ariana Grande's album petal and is considering covering one of its songs.

The disclosure came in a Wonderland cover interview published on 25 August 2026, titled "Olivia Rodrigo on Love, Flower Crowns, and Hackney" (Wonderland). Rodrigo did not specify which track she has in mind, and no cover has been recorded or released.

Grande's petal arrived in late July and opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, the chart that ranks the highest-consuming albums in the United States each week. Its single "Hate That I Made You Love Me" topped the Billboard Hot 100, the equivalent ranking for individual tracks (Billboard).

Rodrigo knows the feeling from the other side. In the same interview, she said it is exciting to have other artists cover her material and named two recent examples: Role Model's version of "maggots for brains" and Sienna Spiro's take on "less." The Wonderland conversation also covered Rodrigo's next venture behind the scenes. Whether a Rodrigo cover of a petal track materialises is, for now, a matter of one artist saying she is thinking about it.
