Netflix Greenlights 'Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery' on 828 Day
Netflix has greenlit Arrivals: A New Manifest Mystery, a sci-fi drama set in the universe of Manifest with a new cast of characters and storylines, the streamer confirmed on 28 August 2026 (Deadline).
The timing was no accident. Netflix announced the project at 8:28 AM Pacific Time on 8/28 — "828 Day," a reference to Montego Air Flight 828, the flight at the centre of Manifest. The same date and time have been used before: the streamer announced Manifest's fourth-season order on 28 August 2021 at 8:28 AM PT, and released the Season 4 premiere date and trailer on 28 August 2022 at the same minute (Deadline). Netflix had previously declined to confirm the spinoff's status before this reveal.
In Arrivals, a mysterious plane crash-lands in Denver. The passengers emerge with no memory of who they are, where they came from, or why they are there. A young social worker and a novice Homeland Security agent team up with the new arrivals to try to stop a humanity-ending catastrophe (Deadline).
Jeff Rake, who created the original Manifest, co-created Arrivals with Margaret Easley and Laura Putney. All three serve as executive producers and co-showrunners. Warner Bros. Television is the studio. Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke of Compari Entertainment, and Len Goldstein of Tall Baby Productions — which holds an overall deal with Warner Bros. TV — round out the executive producing team (Deadline; Variety).
The original Manifest starred Melissa Roxburgh and Josh Dallas alongside Athena Karkanis, J.R. Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Jack Messina, Parveen Kaur, Matt Long, and Holly Taylor. It launched on NBC in September 2018. NBC cancelled the show after three seasons in 2021, and Netflix picked it up for a fourth and final season, releasing it in two drops of ten episodes each — the first on 4 November 2022, the second on 2 June 2023 (Variety).
The audience that found Manifest on Netflix was large. All four seasons have drawn more than 130 million views on the platform since the first half of 2023. Season 4 spent nine weeks on Netflix's Global Top 10 English TV list and reached number one in more than 90 countries the platform tracks (Variety).
For fans, the spinoff is the continuation Jeff Rake first hinted at in August 2023, when he told followers on social media to "stay hopeful" about the possibility of more Manifest (Decider). Three years later, that hope has a title, a premise, and a green light — though no episode count, release date, or casting announcements have been made public yet.
