Mac DeMarco has released four new albums — Dog on the Rock, Seven Off The Two, Seaplane Dog, and The View From Tian Tian — on digital streaming platforms, marking the first time these recordings have been widely available online. The four albums premiered on streaming services on 28 August 2026, as Pitchfork reported.

Before reaching streaming, the albums had already reached some listeners through an unconventional route. DeMarco handed out the recordings to fans on CD-Rs — recordable discs that can be burned at home or in a studio — during his most recent tour. Dog on the Rock was one that quietly surfaced online after its CD-R circulation, eventually making its way to YouTube, as Exclaim noted in November 2025.

The track titles across all four albums share an odd common thread: every song is named after a seemingly random set of numbers. No explanation has been offered for the naming convention.

DeMarco's most recent album prior to this batch was Guitar, released on 22 August 2025 through his own imprint, Mac's Record Label, as confirmed by a Facebook post from the artist. Guitar was announced that June with a video for the song "Home" and followed earlier releases including Five Easy Hot Dogs and One Wayne G, according to Pitchfork.

For fans, the streaming release closes a gap that had existed since the tour CD-Rs first changed hands. Listeners who missed the tour, or who relied on YouTube rips and fan-shared files, now have the four albums in their entirety on major platforms. Four albums arriving at once is unusual but not unprecedented in an era when artists have experimented with everything from surprise drops to limited physical runs. What sets DeMarco's approach apart is the timeline: the music went from tour-stop giveaways to official streaming releases, with the CD-R phase functioning as a soft launch that built interest before the wider rollout. Whether the numbered song titles follow a hidden logic or are simply what they appear to be — random digits — is something DeMarco has not addressed.
