Paramount+ Renews MobLand for Season 3 Before Season 2 Even Airs

Paramount+ has renewed its crime drama MobLand for a third season, announced on 3 September — a full two weeks before Season 2 premieres on the streamer.

The early renewal confirms that Tom Hardy will return as Harry da Souza, the fixer at the centre of the Harrigan crime family, alongside Pierce Brosnan as patriarch Conrad Harrigan and Helen Mirren as matriarch Maeve Harrigan. Season 2 lands on Paramount+ on 18 September, with ten episodes streaming weekly on Fridays and a finale set for 20 November.

Getting Hardy back was not straightforward. Earlier in 2026, a behind-the-scenes dispute between Hardy, writer and showrunner Jez Butterworth, and producer David Glasser became public after claims surfaced that Hardy had been fired from the production. Variety reported that those claims were not quite accurate: tensions were real, but the trio were attempting to resolve their creative differences. Director and executive producer Guy Ritchie, who also executive-produces the series, was among those keen to bring Hardy back into the fold.

The path to resolution ran through a meeting in London between Hardy, Butterworth and Glasser, with Ritchie also pitching in. That sit-down secured Hardy's return for Season 3, according to Deadline. In June 2026, Deadline had already reported that Hardy was expected back and that a third-season order was likely; Paramount+ has now made it official.

MobLand arrived with weight behind it. Season 1 premiered on 30 March 2025 exclusively on Paramount+ and logged the streamer's second-biggest launch for an original series, behind only Landman. That performance earned a second-season renewal in 2025. The show is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios.

The Season 2 logline, as reported by Variety, sketches a family in trouble: the Harrigans struggle to show a unified front as rising rivals threaten their fractured criminal empire, and Harry must walk a dangerous tightrope as tensions within the family intensify. Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon and Jasmine Jobson are among the cast appearing this season.

For fans, the renewal removes a cloud that had been hanging over the production. Reports of friction between a leading man and his showrunner can sink a series — or at least complicate its future. Instead, MobLand now heads into its second season with a third already on the books, its central trio of stars confirmed, and a clear signal from Paramount+ that the Harrigans' story has more room to run.

The show will roll out its ten-episode second season across September, October and November, giving audiences a weekly fix of organised-crime drama before production on the third instalment begins.
