The anniversary package centres on a new Toxicity vinyl reissue pressed on red smoke-coloured vinyl, bundled with a bonus one-sided 7-inch featuring 'Johnny' on the A-side and a custom '25' etching on the B-side. The reissue is also available on CD, and in multiple vinyl variants including a standard black edition and a direct-to-consumer exclusive, each bundling the 'Johnny' 7-inch. The reissue corrects a long-standing tracklist detail by officially crediting the album's hidden closing track — long known among fans as 'Arto' — as 'Der Voghormia', a traditional Armenian hymn. The package ships with a custom double-sided poster and was available for preorder at the time of publication.

Toxicity was released on September 4, 2001, produced by Rick Rubin, and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — the chart that ranks the most-consumed albums in the U.S. each week — in the week of the September 11 attacks. The album's lead single, 'Chop Suey!', was System of a Down's first song to reach the Billboard Hot 100, the U.S.'s benchmark singles chart. After the attacks, 'Chop Suey!' was pulled from radio playlists over lyrics some deemed sensitive.

All three Toxicity singles — 'Chop Suey!', the title track, and 'Aerials' — reached the Hot 100. 'Aerials' topped both Billboard's Mainstream Rock and Modern Rock airplay charts. Toxicity has been certified seven-times platinum in the U.S. and two-times platinum in the U.K., with an estimated 15 million units sold worldwide.
