Diablo 4's next class is the Amazon, due in 2027 as standalone DLC
The Amazon is coming to Diablo 4. Blizzard announced the class during the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2026 on 12 September, with developers presenting from the Main Stage in Hall D.
A class is a playable character type, each with its own weapons, skills and style of fighting. The Amazon is the next such addition to Blizzard's action role-playing game, which sends players through dungeons in search of loot. GameSpot
No expansion this time. The Amazon will be sold separately as a DLC class pack, a small paid download rather than a large story expansion with new zones and quests. Blizzard has given a release window in the first half of next year, which means the first half of 2027. That leaves several months between the announcement and the release.
The approach is different from the last addition. Diablo 4's Lord of Hatred expansion added the Paladin and the Warlock to the class roster. Those two arrived together as part of a full expansion. The Amazon will follow on its own, outside that model.
Players do not have long to wait for something new. Diablo 4's next season, Hell's Legacy, has a start date of 15 September 2026. A season is a fresh, limited-time phase with its own theme, rewards and reset progression. It is designed to bring regular players back every few months with a clean starting point.
Blizzard also confirmed Diablo 4 is coming to Switch 2. It will arrive as a Lord of Hatred collection that includes both of the game's expansions. That bundle puts the base game and its two large add-ons into one package for Nintendo's console. Blizzard has not yet given a release date for the Switch 2 version.
For fans, this means two timelines to watch. The short term is Hell's Legacy and the Switch 2 launch. The longer term is the Amazon in 2027.
What makes this stand out is the packaging. Selling a single class as DLC lowers the entry point for players who want the new fighter without buying a full expansion. It also tests whether one familiar name can carry a release by itself.
