Brad Paisley Writes 'We Are South America' for South Park Premiere
Country singer Brad Paisley wrote an original song for the Season 29 premiere of South Park.
The track is titled “We Are South America” and was made for the episode “South American Biker Gangs”, which aired on Wednesday, Sept. 16, according to Billboard. Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone temporarily retitled the programme “South America” for the premiere.
The episode centres on a citywide ban on e-bikes, ordered by Mayor McDaniels. The ban follows disruption caused by e-bike riders in the town. Kenny does not survive.
Paisley’s song plays near the end of the episode. It soundtracks a funeral scene held after Kenny dies when an e-bike battery explodes.
The show, which centres on Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny, is a Peabody and Emmy Award-winning animated series, according to its official site. Full, uncensored episodes are available through South Park’s website. New episodes under the “South America” title air every two weeks on Wednesdays on Comedy Central at 10 p.m. ET.
What makes this stand out for long-time viewers is the history. Paisley visited South Park Studios in California in 2015 and was invited to appear in an episode. More than a decade later, that connection has turned into an original song written for the series’ new season.
