FX's Far Cry Adds Brendan Gleeson, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Three More to Season One
Brendan Gleeson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Hamish Linklater, Sam Spruell and Jamie Demetriou will appear in season one of FX's Far Cry.
The five join a series led by Rob Mac, who created the show with Noah Hawley. Variety reported the additions on 17 September 2026.
Mac is both the central performer and a co-creator, meaning he helped develop the programme and also carries the season on screen. Lizzy Caplan and Steve Buscemi were previously announced for season one. No character details have been released.
The cast keeps growing. The new names bring the announced season-one ensemble to eight performers in total.
The series is based on the Far Cry video game franchise of the same name. Hawley and Mac are credited as its creators for television. The adaptation is organised as an anthology, meaning each season is designed as a self-contained story.
In plain terms, that means a different cast and a different setting each season. Season one will introduce its own characters and close its own story. If the show continues, a new ensemble would follow in a new place.
Season one will air on FX, on Hulu, and on Disney+ internationally. That gives the show three homes. FX provides the cable transmission in the United States. Hulu provides the streaming transmission in the United States. Disney+ provides the streaming transmission outside the United States.
The series will be produced by FX Productions. Mac will serve as an executive producer under his More Better Productions banner. Hawley will serve as an executive producer via his 26 Keys company.
An executive producer credit means oversight of creative and business decisions. It covers work from scripts through filming to final delivery. Here that responsibility is shared between the lead creator-performer, his fellow creator and the producing studio.
For viewers, this means the shape of season one is now clearer. Eight names are attached. One season tells one story. The production team is set around that plan.
What makes this stand out is the balance of the group. Film, television and comedy backgrounds sit side by side in a single season. The anthology design lets that particular mix exist for one story only, then resets for whatever comes next.
