Carly Rae Jepsen releases 'Versailles' video from double album Day and Night

Carly Rae Jepsen has released a music video for “Versailles,” her new single from the double LP “Day and Night.” Rolling Stone reported the arrival on 18 September. The song is one of 24 tracks on the new project. The release starts her first full push into a new album cycle since 2023.

The video was directed by Kanya Iwana and filmed in Los Angeles. It opens at a crowded house party where Jepsen dances her way through the room. As the night builds, she starts to imagine herself inside the French chateau of the title. The cut moves between the party floor and that daydream. Real life in one shot. Versailles in the next.

Jepsen wrote “Versailles” with Elias Kapari, Noonie Bao and Markus Krunegård, and Kapari handled production. That credit means he shaped the final sound of the recording. The team drew on Sofia Coppola’s film “Marie Antoinette” for inspiration. Coppola’s 2006 film follows the young French queen through court life, parties and gossip. Jepsen uses that world as a springboard for a pop song about escape and imagination.

“Day and Night” is built as a double LP, two records packaged and sold as one album. The format gives her more room than a standard single-disc release. There are 24 tracks in total, with 12 songs assigned to Day and 12 to Night to fit the theme. Rolling Stone noted it is Jepsen’s first album of new music since 2023’s “The Loveliest Time.” That three-year gap covers writing, recording and planning the two-sided concept.

Live dates are already in motion. Jepsen will play a special sunset set at All Things Go Festival in New York City on 27 September. A sunset set is a prime early-evening slot, after the afternoon acts and before the headliners. The timing places the new songs on a festival stage within days of the video release. It gives New York fans an early chance to hear how the Day and Night material works in front of a crowd.

For fans, this means the rollout is moving on two tracks at once. “Versailles” introduces the sound and the visual world. The festival date offers the next look at where the double album goes from here.
