Twitch boss points to GTA 6 multiplayer arriving in 2027

Twitch chief executive Dan Clancy has pointed to 2027 for the multiplayer part of Grand Theft Auto 6, with the main game arriving on 19 November 2026 as a single-player launch.
Clancy said there will be “a big bump with GTA 6 and then an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer.” Rockstar has not commented on whether Grand Theft Auto 6 will include a multiplayer component, so his remark stands as his account rather than a publisher announcement Eurogamer.
Clancy was speaking in a Bloomberg interview about streaming and game launches. He said Twitch had spent time talking with Rockstar about its plans and helping it think about engaging creators, who make live videos and clips watched by fans. That relationship matters because launches now play out on streams as well as in stores.
He also backed the decision by other publishers to keep clear of the date. Clancy said he expects an enormous launch for GTA 6 in November 2026, and that video game companies are right to avoid competing with it for attention IGN. It is a crowded calendar problem. A big release can swallow press coverage, streams and player spending for weeks.
The official details so far are narrow. Rockstar has set Thursday, 19 November 2026 as the release date for Grand Theft Auto VI on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S Rockstar Games. The company has also announced Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album for the same day, 19 November.
A staggered online launch would follow past practice. GTA Online, the shared online mode for Grand Theft Auto 5, arrived two weeks after the main game launched. Red Dead Online, the online mode for Red Dead Redemption 2, went live seven months after that game launched.
For players, this means two events to track rather than one. The November date brings the story campaign first. Any shared online play, where large groups explore and create together in the same world, would come later if Clancy’s timing proves correct.
