Tune-Yards to perform I Love Boosters score on November tour
Tune-Yards will perform the score from Boots Riley's film I Love Boosters live on a North American tour this November.
The run is called The Ones That Love You and begins on 5 November in Chicago, according to Pitchfork. Rituals of Mine will open each date. The music leaves the screen.
The programme runs through clubs and arts rooms across the Midwest and north-east. It opens at Outset in Chicago on 5 November, then moves to Whirling Tiger in Louisville, Kentucky, on 7 November and Woodward Theater in Cincinnati, Ohio, on 8 November. The tour continues to Pyramid Scheme in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on 10 November and Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland, Ohio, on 11 November.
The second half picks up on 14 November at Homer Center for the Arts in Homer, New York. It then calls at 3S Artspace in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on 15 November and Space Ballroom in Hamden, Connecticut, on 16 November. The final announced date is 18 November at Paradise Rock Club in Boston, Massachusetts.
The dates support I Love Boosters – Original Motion Picture Score, the collection of music Tune-Yards composed for the film. A film score is the instrumental music written to sit alongside dialogue and action. In this case the group will play that music as a live show rather than leaving it in the cinema.
The project continues a working link with Riley. Tune-Yards previously composed music for his 2018 film Sorry to Bother You. The group then released their sixth studio album, Better Dreaming, in 2025.
I Love Boosters is a feature from NEON and stars Keke Palmer, LaKeith Stanfield and Demi Moore, according to 4AD. Riley writes and directs, with the story centred on a group of shoplifters.
For fans, this means hearing the film music played by the people who made it. Tour shows built around a score often differ from a standard album show, with cues and themes arranged for the stage.
