Marvel's Wolverine has sold around 1.9 million copies in its first three days on sale.

The PlayStation 5 game was released on 15 September and has made upwards of US$130 million so far, according to early estimates from Alinea Analytics analyst Rhy Elliot. Eurogamer reported the figures, which include 1 million copies from digital pre-orders placed before launch.

That pre-order number matters. It means more than half of the early total was secured before launch day. Many players will recognise Wolverine as a favourite from films and comics, and a large core of fans was ready on day one.

Only 22.9% of sales were physical editions. That means disc copies bought in a shop, rather than downloads bought through the PlayStation Store. The balance, more than three quarters, was digital.

The digital lean is stronger here than for other recent PlayStation titles. An earlier Alinea Analytics report put the physical share of PlayStation 5 revenue for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 at 35%. Around 46% of Astro Bot sales were disc-based copies, while Ghost of Yotei recorded a 37.6% physical split.

That context counts. Eurogamer notes Sony plans to end production of discs for new PlayStation games in 2028. If that timetable holds, Wolverine will rank among the last large PlayStation releases to sell boxed copies at scale.

The data also sketches who is buying. About 82% of Wolverine players had previously played Marvel's Spider-Man, and 70% had played Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Around 43% had also played Marvel Rivals, the free team-based shooter built around Marvel characters. The game was released on 15 September, as IGN confirmed.

What makes this stand out is the combination. Big pre-orders. Fast early revenue. A small disc share. For fans, this means the audience is largely the same group that played the recent Spider-Man games, now following a different hero.
