Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will let players automatically raise their characters' levels to skip grinding.

Grinding is the routine of fighting the same battles again and again to earn experience points and grow stronger. Revelation will offer a shortcut instead. The choice stays with the player.

The game is the third and final entry in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, a three-part retelling of the 1997 role-playing story. In a role-playing game, each character has a level, a simple number that measures strength. Higher levels mean tougher attacks and better survival in story battles.

Revelation will pause at specific points and ask if the player wants to move straight to the recommended level for what comes next. That recommended level is the strength the designers suggest for the coming section. Accept, and the game does the work. No extra battles required.

Director Naoki Hamaguchi outlined the system in comments reported by Video Games Chronicle on 21 September 2026. He said the idea came from feedback to Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, the middle game in the trilogy.

Some Rebirth players said they wanted to experience only the main story, without side quests and other optional tasks. Side quests are short extra missions found away from the central plot. They take time, but they also give experience points and useful items.

That choice caused problems in Rebirth. Players who skipped the extras often arrived under-levelled, meaning their characters were too weak for the next story fight, and struggled to progress. The new option is designed to avoid that trap.

For fans, this means a cleaner choice. Play everything and level up the slow way. Or follow only the plot and let the game handle the maths. Stick with favourite side quests, or skip them entirely.

Hamaguchi has spoken before about how Revelation differs from its predecessors. He discussed meaningful player choices and resolving the story in an interview published by Automaton Media on 6 June 2026. The auto-level system is one of the clearest examples yet of that thinking in practice.
