Taylor Frankie Paul Steps Away From The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives

Taylor Frankie Paul has stepped away from Hulu's The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

She announced the decision in an Instagram post on Monday. She thanked the networks that supported her and gave her the chance to return, according to Variety. Season 5 of the reality series premiered on Sept. 10. Season 6 has been filming without Paul since July.

In the post, Paul accused her castmates of a "pile on" and wrote that "laughing about my kids is disgusting." The message did not detail what happens to her role next. Hulu has not publicly commented on her departure.

Paul, 32, is the influencer around whom the series was built. The show follows a group of Mormon mum friends from Utah. Paul and the group helped make MomTok, a community of Utah mum creators on TikTok, into a viral sensation.

Her exit follows weeks of tension inside the cast. Mikayla Matthews announced she had left the show midway through filming Season 6 shortly after Season 5 was released. Matthews later clarified she was leaving because of a moral objection to Paul's return. Cast members Mayci Neeley and Layla Taylor both indicated they were unsure about their futures on the show after the news of Paul's return.

The departure also follows a difficult legal period for Paul. Production paused in March due to a police investigation into domestic violence allegations Paul and ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen made against each other. A court later granted both of them mutual restraining orders. Neither faced charges.

Paul's custody disputes involve Mortensen, with whom she shares one son, and ex-husband Tate Paul, with whom she shares a son and daughter. Paul was required to take a drug test after a July court ruling, with the results placed under a protective order, meaning they were kept sealed from the public. Her ex-husband filed documents on Aug. 13 asking the court to unseal the results.

Sources told Variety that Paul allegedly failed a recent court-ordered test. That allegation has not been confirmed in court records. Earlier reports from Page Six and TMZ said she had allegedly failed multiple tests and had her parenting time reduced to eight hours a week.

Paul had also been set as the lead of The Bachelorette Season 22. Disney unscheduled the premiere, meaning it was removed from the schedule, after earlier controversy. Season 4 of Mormon Wives had ended with Paul leaving to film that season. ABC pulled the season in March after footage resurfaced of a 2023 incident, according to People.

For viewers, this means the series continues without its starting point. Season 5 is now streaming. Season 6 is in production with a changed line-up.
