Disney+ Orders Darkwing Duck Reboot with Mark Hamill, Seth Rogen

Disney+ has ordered a Darkwing Duck reboot to series, with Mark Hamill taking over the cape as Drake Mallard, also known as Darkwing Duck.
The commission is a straight-to-series order, meaning no pilot is shot first. The order was reported by Variety on 22 September 2026.
Hamill leads the voice cast as the suburban duck turned masked crime-fighter. Seth Rogen will voice Launchpad McQuack, Darkwing's pilot sidekick. Lizzy Caplan will voice Gosalyn Mallard, Drake's adopted daughter.
The wider ensemble fills out St. Canard's heroes, neighbours and new faces. Lilimar voices Duckie, Dan Stevens voices Glade McTowers and Tiffany Shepis voices Rosa. Kathryn Newton voices Firecracker, Teo Briones voices Timb and Tyler Dean Flores voices Pondsy.
Katie Rich and Nat Faxon round out the announced cast as Officer Shanks and Officer Webb. No premiere date or episode count has been disclosed. The story will stream on Disney+.
Behind the microphone, Sean Tretta and Borja Peña Gorostegui serve as writers and executive producers. Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Alex McAtee and Gabby Grantham are producing through Point Grey Pictures. Tad Stones, who created the original series, consulted on development of the reboot, according to Variety.
The original Darkwing Duck ran from 1991 to 1992 for three seasons and 91 episodes. That version starred Jim Cummings as Darkwing Duck, Christine Cavanaugh as Gosalyn and Terry McGovern as Launchpad.
For viewers who grew up taping the afternoon cartoons, this means new voices in very familiar roles. Hamill, Rogen and Caplan step in where Cummings, McGovern and Cavanaugh once led the call sheet.
