Niko Rubio will release her debut album, late night swim, on Oct. 30. The record was announced alongside a new single, dream, due on Friday, Sept. 25. Rolling Stone reported both dates on Sept. 23.

dream will arrive two days after the announcement. It follows two songs already released from the album, kitty and tokyo, according to the same report. That gives listeners three previews before the full album lands in October.

Rubio said the album comes six years after her first release. She shared the timing in a post on Threads on Sept. 22. The post finalised a wait that stretches back to the start of her solo output.

The Mexican-Salvadoran singer has worked on both sides of the microphone. As a songwriter, she has written songs for Gwen Stefani, Suki Waterhouse and the Warning, Rolling Stone reported. That writing work ran alongside her own releases in English and Spanish.

Her earlier catalogue was built through shorter records. An EP, a record with a handful of songs rather than a full album, titled Wish You Were Here served as her major label debut EP, according to a 2022 report from BroadwayWorld. That period included the single Hold Me Down, released in January 2022.

She later released Mar y Tierra, an EP sung completely in Spanish. The record blends modern pop sounds with Mexican music including mariachi influences, Yahoo Entertainment reported in 2024. Rubio was identified as Mexican-Salvadoran in a 2023 Rolling Stone roundup of Latin acts.

For fans, this means a short wait with clear dates. Pre-order and pre-save options for late night swim are listed on her official website. dream arrives first on Sept. 25. The full album follows on Oct. 30.
