Gremlins 3 Delayed to October 2028 as Warner Bros Resets Release

Gremlins 3 will stay off screens for almost another year. Warner Bros has moved the film from 19 November 2027 to 6 October 2028, as reported by Variety.
The date shift stretches the wait for a third entry to more than 40 years after the original. The 1984 Gremlins launched the series. Its 1990 follow-up, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, arrived six years later.
Chris Columbus is set to direct and produce the new film. Columbus wrote the first film’s script in the 1980s and now returns at the centre of the revival. Steven Spielberg is returning as executive producer, with Eleanor Columbus of Maiden Voyage also credited as executive producer.
The producing team spans two banners. Kristie Macosko Krieger and Holly Bario are producing under Amblin Entertainment, the company behind the original films. Michael Barnathan and Mark Radcliffe of 26th Street Pictures are also producing, according to Variety.
Hannah Marks is writing the script. She is working from an original draft by Columbus, Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein. No director-for-hire handover here. The film-maker is co-writing the story he will shoot.
The money explains why Warner Bros keeps going back. The first Gremlins earned $212 million worldwide against a budget of about $11 million, Variety reported. Gremlins 2: The New Batch earned $41 million. The original also played a part in the creation of the PG-13 rating, the middle-grade cinema certificate in the United States that sits between PG and R.
Much about the new film is still under wraps. The official title, plot details and casting have not been disclosed. Warner Bros. Discovery chief executive David Zaslav first revealed the project during an investor call in 2025.
What makes this stand out is the long chain behind it. A low-budget 1980s hit, a modest sequel, and now a big-studio revival led by the same names. Fans will wait until October 2028 to see what that mix produces.
