Netflix Renews The Beast in Me for Season 2 With Claire Danes Returning

Netflix has ordered a second season of The Beast in Me, turning its one-season thriller into a returning series.
The renewal was reported by The Hollywood Reporter on 24 September 2026. Claire Danes will be back as Aggie Wiggs, the writer at the centre of the story. The decision extends the life of a show Netflix still lists as a 2025 limited series, meaning a story originally planned to run for one season.
The series is a mystery thriller about an author who investigates her neighbour. Danes stars opposite Matthew Rhys. Netflix categorises the show as a thriller and rates it TV-MA, meaning it is intended for mature audiences. The first season debuted on 13 November, according to Netflix.
Viewing held up after release. The first season spent seven weeks in Netflix's worldwide top 10 and eight weeks on Nielsen's United States streaming charts for original series, with just under 97 million hours of watch time recorded by Nielsen. Those figures were cited in the renewal report.
The creative team is largely staying in place. Howard Gordon will return for Season 2 and will share showrunning duties with Daniel Pearle. A showrunner leads the writing and day-to-day production, so co-showrunners means the two will do that job jointly. Pearle was a writer and executive producer on Season 1. The series was created by Gabe Rotter.
Gordon has also signed a wider agreement with the streamer. Under an overall deal with Netflix, he will develop new series through his Teakwood Lane Productions. That type of deal means the streamer gets first call on new ideas from his company.
The project reunited Danes with Gordon, as Danes discussed in a Netflix interview. Season 1 also featured Brittany Snow and Natalie Morales, whose casting was announced by Variety in October 2024. Rhys won an Emmy for best actor in a limited series for the show.
For viewers, this means Aggie's story is not finished. A second season needs new scripts, a new shoot and a crew of hundreds. No release date has been announced yet.
