John Goodman is set to star opposite Claire Danes in Season 2 of The Beast In Me, the Netflix thriller. Deadline reported the casting on Wednesday, 28 October 2026.

Danes returns as Aggie Wiggs, the author at the centre of the story. Goodman will play Jack, Aggie's father, a long-time con artist. Variety reported that Goodman had joined the new season at Netflix. Danes will also work behind the camera, executive producing the season as well as starring in it. An executive producer is a senior role that helps oversee a show's creative and business decisions.

The series was first picked up in 2024 as a limited series, meaning a show told in one set run of episodes with no planned return. A second season means the story has moved beyond that original plan. Howard Gordon and Daniel Pearle are returning as co-showrunners, the writer-producers who run the show day to day. The studio for Season 2 is 20th Television.

The first season brought Matthew Rhys an Emmy for outstanding lead actor in a limited or anthology series. The Emmys are the main American television awards. Gabe Rotter created the series and is an executive producer on it.

Netflix has not, in the material reported so far, announced a premiere date or an episode count for Season 2. Those details usually come later in a production cycle, once filming and scheduling are settled.

For the cast and crew, the announcement marks the point where a returning show becomes a working one. Casting in the autumn often means a production start in the months ahead, with a writers' room and a crew who will spend that time on the new episodes. Viewers will have to wait for the schedule to confirm when the season lands on screens.
