Yaga trailer reveals AMC+ Baba Yaga thriller for October 23

A missing heir kicks off the first full trailer for Yaga, AMC+'s new mystery thriller.
The streamer released the official trailer ahead of its 23 October premiere, when the eight-part serialised drama will launch with two episodes, according to Deadline. The clip is posted on the AMC+ YouTube channel under the title "Official Trailer Feat. Carrie-Anne Moss and Noah Reid | YAGA | Premieres October 23 | AMC+," per AMC+ on YouTube.
The story starts with a disappearance. Noah Reid plays Rapp, a private investigator who arrives in the small coastal town of Whittock to look into the vanishing of Henry Park. Hudson Williams plays Park, described as a young heir to a powerful fishery. Small town. Big family. Plenty of secrets.
Carrie-Anne Moss plays Katherine, a charismatic university professor, and Clark Backo plays Carson, a local detective. The wider ensemble includes Sheila McCarthy, Megan Follows, Ezra Franky, Patrick Gilmore, Katharine Isabelle, Hiro Kanagawa, Emilija Baranac, Georgia Acken, Anisa Harris and Sam Krochmal.
The series is based on a play by Kit Sandler and reimagines the myth of Baba Yaga, the forest figure from Slavic folklore. The trailer leans into that eerie tone. It is set to Alanis Morissette's cover of Donovan's "Season of the Witch."
Behind the camera, David Frazee and Rachel Talalay serve as co-directors. Mackenzie Donaldson, Andrew Miller and Moss are executive producers, with Charles Cooper as producer. The show was made as a Crave Original by Blink49 Studios and Front Street Pictures in association with Bell Media, with participation from the Canada Media Fund, the Rogers Series Fund and the Bell Fund. International distribution is handled by Sphere Abacus, which sold the series in the United States through an exclusive acquisition by AMC Networks for AMC+, according to AMC Networks.
For viewers, this means a short run with a closed mystery at its centre. Eight episodes. One case. An October launch timed for spooky season.
